How the uneven nights calculator works
Enter the total cost and the number of nights each person stayed. By default the whole cost is split in proportion to nights. If part of the cost does not depend on nights (a cleaning fee, a deposit), put that percentage in "part shared equally" and the rest is split by nights.
A worked example
A £1,000 stay: Mia and Ola stay 5 nights, Jonas 3 and Ravi 2. That is 15 person-nights, so each night costs about £66.67. Mia and Ola pay about £333.33 each, Jonas £200 and Ravi £133.33. An equal split would charge everyone £250.
Is splitting by nights always fair?
It is the easiest rule to explain. Some groups prefer a fixed base for everyone plus a nights-based part, because the house costs the same to book however many people stay. The "shared equally" box lets you try both.

Frequently asked questions
What if the price changes by night?
Use the average, or run the calculator separately for each part of the stay.
Should a person who arrives late pay less?
If the group agreed to split by nights, yes. Otherwise use a shared base plus a nights-based part.
Does it handle rounding?
Yes. The shares always add up to the exact total.
