How the tip calculator works
Enter the bill before tip, choose a tip percentage (or type your own), and set how many people are sharing. You get the tip, the total and each person's share, plus a table of common tip percentages with each share rounded up to the next whole unit.
A worked example
A $86.40 bill with an 18% tip gives a tip of $15.55 and a total of $101.95. For three people that is about $33.98 to $33.99 each, because the cents cannot divide evenly.
Tipping customs differ
How much to tip depends on the country and the place. Check local norms, and note that some bills already include a service charge. If yours does, set the tip to 0.
