How the itemised bill splitter works
List the people at the table and each item with its price. Tick everyone who had it: a shared dish is divided between the people ticked. The calculator adds each person's food, then applies the same tax and tip rate to everyone, so tax and tip stay in proportion to what each person ordered.
A worked example
Four friends share nachos for 12 and each have a main of 18, 32, 16 and 14. The nachos add 3 to each person. With 8% tax and 20% tip (28% in total), a person whose food comes to 21 pays 26.88, and someone whose food comes to 35 pays 44.80.
A note on tip and tax
Tipping customs differ by country, and tip may be calculated before or after tax. This tool applies both rates to the food total. If your bill already includes a service charge, set the tip to 0.

Frequently asked questions
How are shared dishes split?
Equally between the people ticked for that dish.
Why do tax and tip use the same rate for everyone?
So each person pays tax and tip in proportion to what they ordered, which is the fairest simple rule.
Does it work with a service charge?
Yes. Put the service charge percentage in the tip box and set tip to 0 if the bill already includes it.
Is the receipt stored?
No. Nothing leaves your browser.
